Your instructor, R. D. Hopkins, has been teaching classes for the state of Oregon for over 16 years (Unarmed Security & Alcohol Server) and has over 26 years experience working in the service industry in various restaurants, bars, and nightclubs as management, bartender, server, and bar/night club security

In 1997, while attending University of Oregon, Mr. Hopkins started "M.I.B. Security & Event Services Inc. (M.I.B.). This company was a crowd control, event security, and general event staffing company that, within a few years, became the largest in the mid-Williamette Valley, and one of the largest in the state of Oregon.

For 12 years Mr. Hopkins was licensed as an Oregon "Department of Public Safety, Standards, and Training" (D.P.S.S.T.) "Private Security Instructor", providing Oregon's state's mandated 12 hour course to those in need of their unarmed security license. In 2005 he was contacted by the state (D.P.S.S.T.) and, because of his reputation as an expert in providing security at events where alcohol was a factor, was asked to provide specialized classes to those working in night clubs and bars (commonly referred to as bouncers and doormen). These classes included all D.P.S.S.T. required curriculum as well as training on liquor laws, recognizing fake and/or altered I.D.s, and other liquor related issues. Over the years he was responsible for providing these classes to hundreds of students.

In 2007, after owning and operating M.I.B. for over ten years, Mr. Hopkins sold his business and relocated to the Portland area in hopes of taking advantage of an opportunity to work in a related enforcement field. Unfortunately, shortly after moving to Portland the 2008 worldwide Great Recession? took hold which took a severe toll on the U.S. labor market including the field that Mr. Hopkins was trying to acquire employment in.

In 2010 Mr. Hopkins was hired by America Alcohol Certified Education Association (AACEA), which is an OLCC certified Alcohol Server Education (ASE) Provider. Mr. Hopkins was certified by the OLCC as an ASE Instructor for AACEA. In 2012 he branched out on his own upgrading his OLCC instructor license to become a Provider and started his own company and continues to teach the O.L.C.C. approved Alcohol Server Education (A.S.E.) classes Monday - Friday in Portland, the Portland Metro area, and other locations in North West Oregon.
